Can I Color or Dye My Hair Extensions?Updated 4 hours ago
Yes — most SL Raw Virgin Hair extensions can be professionally colored because they are made from 100% raw, unprocessed human hair. This gives you the flexibility to customize your shade, whether you're looking to lighten, darken, or add dimension.
However, there are important exceptions and care considerations to be aware of.
What You Can Dye
Raw Wefts, Closures, Tape-ins, and Wigs made with raw Indian or Vietnamese hair can be colored
Hair has never been chemically treated, giving professional colorists a clean slate
Results vary based on undertone and natural pigment (as with real hair)
⚠️ We recommend working with a licensed colorist, especially when bleaching or lightening.
What You Cannot Dye
Seamless I-Tips and other Remy-based products cannot be colored due to their protective coating
Any pre-colored extensions (like Jet Black, Medium Brown, Burgundy) should not be lifted or redyed
Organic Keratin Bonds may not hold color evenly if treated post-install
Attempting to dye non-raw items may lead to damage, matting, or uneven color.
Will Coloring Shorten the Lifespan?
Yes, coloring — especially bleaching — can reduce the longevity of your extensions.
To preserve the quality, we recommend:
Deep conditioning treatments post-color
Minimal heat styling
Using color-safe sulfate-free shampoos
Letting hair air-dry when possible
